Wednesday, 24th January - trip to We The Curious
We had a FANTASTIC time on our school trip to We The Curious.
We were lucky enough to attend a workshop, visit the planetarium and have lots of free time to explore the exhibitions.

Tuesday 16th January – Science
5T got up to lots of fun this afternoon in science!
We used our bodies to model the relative movements of the Earth, Moon and Sun to help us visualise what this looks like. Take a look at some of our models in the videos below.
We then moved on to thinking about the other planets in our solar system. Although it’s easy to remember the order of the planets, it’s harder to visualise the distances between them because of the immense scale! Because of this, 5T went outside and created our own scaled-down, 'human' solar system. Take a look at the pictures below (beneath the videos).
Monday 15th January – Gymnastics (Counter Balances)
We were practicing counter balances today in PE, focusing on extension and tension. We had four levels of challenge and, because we were working in groups, those who were more adventurous and confident could take the more daring poses. Take a look at some of our balances below!
Wednesday 10th January – Practical Maths
We really enjoyed some practical maths today to help us understand what we are doing when multiply 2-digit by 2-digit numbers. We used dienes blocks to demonstrate the area model and some of us felt confident to move onto demonstrating this method using pictorial dienes apparatus on whiteboards.
Thursday 4th January – inspirational maths day 1
Today has been a great start to term 3 – 5T absolutely loved working collaboratively and developing their self-belief within maths.
A favourite activity among many of us was working as a group to find every number from 1 to 20 using only four 4s – all four 4s had to be used each time with any operation.
This activity really helped to build on previous work we have done on square numbers and we learnt how to use BODMAS.
All groups managed to find every number from 1-20 and it was great to see different answers, showing that maths doesn’t always have just one answer.
