Welcome to 3AJ
One afternoon, we received two mysterious envelopes from two Professors called History Higgins and Historical Hughes. They had been conducting research in Badger Woods when all their documents blew away! It was our job to find them! Once we found all the pieces, we put them together to reveal an unusual picture...
In the second envelope we found pages and pages of unusual writing. We had to crack the code! Each little picture represented a letter and in groups we had to solve the puzzle! Once we had pieced together all the clues, we had a conversation about what we thought our new topic was.
It’s TOMB RAIDERS!
In English, 3AJ have been reading The Minpins by Roald Dahl!
We have made predictions, described characters and settings, taken part in drama activities and have drawn detailed pictures of what we believe the fearsome Gruncher looks like!
In maths, we have been focusing on place value.
What is place value?
It’s how much each digit in a number is worth!!
When we understand place value, we can order and compare numbers, finish sequences, find 1, 10 or 100 more or less.
Place value will help us throughout the year in all aspects of maths!
This term, 3AJ are also taking part in RAISE THE ROOF. Raise the roof is a year 3 & 4 singing festival and schools from all across North Somerset take part! The theme of this year’s ‘Raise The Roof’ is ‘Cool School!’ and is based around songs to do with school life: learning about different subjects, being good friends, working well together with others, internet safety and playing together in the playground.
