Term 1
We have had a brilliant start to year 3!
Mrs B-G and Miss J are so impressed by our hard work and enthusiasm despite not having been in school for a long time. 3JB have a lot to be proud of already!
Topic
We have very much enjoyed getting stuck into our first topic of year 3 - 'Tomb Raiders'
During our topic 'WOW' afternoon, we received a mysterious letter from 2 Egyptologists. We had some clues to find and then an exciting code to crack.
English
Our first English text was 'Here we are' by Oliver Jeffers.
This beautifully illustrated book offering an overview of Earth and a guide to living well. We explored concepts of kindness, tolerance and environmental responsibility.
We wrote some amazing poems all about how important and special our planet is.
We worked hard to include lots of brilliant expanded noun phrases in our poems which we published and illustrated!
After 'Here we are', we moved on to exploring the world of Roald Dahl's 'Minpins'.
We have loved the tension and suspense in the story and imagining ourselves in Billy's shoes. We have written some amazing setting and character descriptions, acted in the role of the characters and created story maps. By the end of the term we will have written and published our own 'overcoming the monster' stories, inspired by 'The Minpins'.
