1. Handwriting


Use the handwriting pack to practice the cursive joins.

Complete 3-4 sheets carefully. Then have a go at writing some words which use those letters in your exercise book.
 

2. Edward Tulane character description


LI:describe a character

We have been reading ‘The Miraculous journey of Edward Tulane’ in school.

Choose one of the characters we have met in the story so far.

  • Draw the character carefully
  • C1: Label the character. Use adjectives to describe what they look like.
  • C2: Write a short paragraph to describe the character.
  • C3: Also write about their personality.
     

3. Poetry


LI: explore a poem
Find a poem that you enjoy reading.

  • Write and illustrate the poem in your exercise book or on paper.
  • Learn it off by heart.
  • Practice reciting it with expression.
  • Perform it for someone at home.

 

4. Bearded dragon reading comprehension


LI: find information in a non-fiction text
Please complete the ‘Pet care of a bearded dragon’ reading comprehension.

Read the text carefully. Record the answers to the questions in your exercise books.

  • C1: Complete the sheet with 1 star (see at the bottom of the page)
  • C2: Complete the sheet with 2 stars (see at the bottom of the page)
  • C3: Complete the sheet with 3 stars (see at the bottom of the page)

The answer sheet is at the bottom document so you can check your answers with an adult when you have finished.

5. SPaG - inverted commas


LI: use inverted commas correctly
By the end of year 3 we are aiming for ‘some use of inverted commas to punctuate direct speech.’

We have done a lot of work on direct speech (speech marks) in class.

Please complete one of the sheets on inverted commas. You can either print the sheet or copy each question out into your book. The sheet suggests using just one inverted comma (‘speech’). We have been using two (“speech”) in school.
 

  • C1: Complete the sheet with 1 star (see the top left hand corner of the sheet)
  • C2: Complete the sheet with 2 stars (see the top left hand corner of the sheet)
  • C3: Complete the sheet with 3 stars (see the top left hand corner of the sheet)
