We have lots of exciting lessons planned for out first topic of Year Two! Click on the link to find out what we will be learning in the first two terms.
We have been incredibly busy in Fox Class in lots of different lessons.
In English, we have already written reports about ourselves and we all have a piece of work proudly displayed in the Year 2 corridor or the main hall. After a drama lesson to introduce our class text, Journey by Aaron Becker, we are now writing our own adventure stories inspired by this story. We have all been using impressive adjectives to make our stories interesting for the reader. For each part of the story, we have been drafting, editing and publishing which has resulted in lots of fantastic stories.
Our first maths lessons in Year 2 was based on place value. We are all now very confident with partitioning 2-digit numbers and know what the value of each digit is. We have also been starting to add two 2-digit numbers using the number line. Some of us have even tried using column method! We are continuing with more place value before moving on to subtraction.
Our first science topic of Year 2 is ‘Living Things and their Habitats’. We can confidently identify things that are living, have never lived and things that are dead. Some of us really thought like a scientist and argued our opinions for different examples. We have also looked at the adaptations some animals have to live in their habitat. We are now moving on to looking at microhabitats.
