Maths – Week beginning 11th May
This week, we’re having a look at measuring, with a particular focus on length and perimeter!
If you haven’t got a ruler at home, you might need to ask an adult to print one for you (example below). Alternatively, these activities could also be completed using a tape measure!
1. Measuring in centimetres
LI: To measure in centimetres
Please have a look through the slides on 'Measuring in cms'
(this was taken from a Twinkl PowerPoint but the slides have been edited).
LI: To find equivalent lengths (m and cm)
Look at the Activity 2 PowerPoint below and work through the questions on the slides with someone at home to help you.
Once you’ve done this, choose your challenge on the Activity 2 worksheet.
C1 – Diving Questions – Page 1, Qs 1 – 3
C2 – Deeper Questions – Page 2, Qs 1 – 3 (you can also complete the Diving qs)
C3 – Deepest Questions – Page 3, Qs 1 & 2 (you can also complete Diving and Deeper qs)
3. Converting lengths
LI: To convert between m, cm and m
Look at the video https://corbettmathsprimary.com/2018/07/31/units-length-video/ (STOP at 4 mins, 18 seconds). This explains how to convert between mm and cm and between cm and m.
If you find this video a bit tricky to follow, use this conversion chart to help you.
4. Adding lengths
LI: To add lengths
Look at the heights of the aliens on the Alien Cards
You need to add the heights of the aliens to solve the questions on these worksheets
(answers can be found after the questions)
5. Adding and subtracting lengths
LI: To add and subtract lengths
Look at the Twinkl PowerPoint below about the tallest buildings in London.
