Maths – Week beginning 27th April
This is the first time in Year 3 that the children will have encountered equivalent fractions.
You may need to watch the video slides a couple of times and draw pictures/diagrams if your child is finding the concept tricky. Please do let us know if your child is finding this particularly difficult though and we will try to send home some further supporting resources.
All of these lessons use the White Rose Maths website.
Their Home Learning resources can be found here:
https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/
The answers are also available to download alongside each activity.

Optional Extra Challenges:
Build A Fraction Game
https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/build-a-fraction/latest/build-a-fraction_en.html
Start on Level 1 and ask an adult to explain the activity to you. You need to use the pieces at the bottom of the page to make the fractions on the right hand side of the screen. E.g. if you are making thirds, you will need to divide your shape into 3 segments and then fill in the correct segments (by dragging and dropping the pieces) onto your shape. To check it’s correct, drag your shape into the box on the right hand side. It’s more straightforward than this sounds!
Please supervise children on the internet.

Fractions game
Can you design a fractions activity or card game? How about snap (matching pictures of fractions to its numerical fraction) or maybe a memory game involving equivalent fraction cards. We’d love to see what amazing ideas you come up with!
