Day 1 - Tuesday 18th June. 5:30pm
After a calm, quiet and leisurely drive through the Welsh countryside, we arrived happy and safe to our home for the next 4 days. We have found our beds, unpacked (sort of) and eaten a hearty packed lunch. We have been given our activity groups and headed straight off to the first of our 2 afternoon activities which began at 1pm. Between our 5 groups, we have already completed the mud assault course, ran through the river on the woodland scramble, mountain biked, archered (if that's a real word) and completed some team building games along with caving. There have been cuts, bruises and tears but Mr Webster feels much better now!
So onward to dinner, which tonight is a choice of curry, lasagne or vegan meatballs. We will then walk down to Pendine Sands for an ice cream and to play some games in the sand before heading back up the hill for a hot chocolate and an early night (doubtful!).
Everyone is fine, if a little tired. We'll update you again tomorrow evening with more tales of adventure and team work. The children have already shown their leadership qualities - encouraging each other to overcome the challenges set for them. Well done to all!
Wednesday 19th June - 5:30pm
Last night's expedition to the beach put a big smile on the local ice cream shop owner's face. 60 children with money burning a hole in their pockets, desperate for sugar.....A marvellous combination!
After hot chocolate, a good night's sleep was had by most. Well done in particular to the boys who were asleep by 11, which I think is a record!
Our day today began with cereal, toast and hot tea and we then fell straight into our morning activities which ranged from team building, abseiling, caving, archery and mountain biking.
The afternoon has seen woodland scrambling (running upstream through a woodland stream, ducking under branches making human dams and generally getting wet and muddy!)
The children's positive attitude and willingness to give things a try has been truly exceptional. They have risen to every challenge and pushed themselves beyond their limits at times. An inspirational group of people!
So tonight we look forward to a roast dinner for our evening meal followed by a coastal hike. The sun is shining, faces are glowing and friendships are being strengthened.
Tomorrow Mr Webster and Mrs Jones leave the Morfa pitch, with Mr Meredith and Mrs Gardner coming off the substitutes bench to join the fray.
All are happy and loving camp life. Tonight they will definitely sleep well!
Thursday 20th June
Another busy day here at Morpha Bay. Mr Meredith and Mrs Gardner arrived just after breakfast to add fresh energy to our hard working staff team while Mr Webster and Mrs Jones headed back to school.
The sun has been out and we've all had another day full of activities. Once again, the children have been fantastic team members encouraging each other and giving 100% to every activity. They really have been a credit to our school.
Tea tonight was an end of camp BBQ which we enjoyed eating outside with the all the children from the other schools visiting this week. Everyone is now getting ready for the Disco and the opportunity to dance the night away.
Tomorrow morning it will be time to pack(!) and prepare for the journey home. Your children have all had a brilliant week and will sleep well this weekend!
We're looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
