West Leigh PTA

West Leigh Infant School Parents Association is an independent charity (Registered Charity number: 1038576) of which all parents and staff of the school are automatically members. We organise events throughout the year to:

  • Raise much–needed additional funds for the enrichment of the children’s experiences at school; and
  • Bring the school community together.

We are very fortunate to have a thriving PTA that has been an integral part of the school community for many years, raising around £10,000 per year.

We are currently a six member committee, which is supported by representatives for each class and a teacher member. More details below!

We value everyone’s input, support, energy and time, whether you volunteer to run or help out at an event, offer your ideas or contribute to the fundraising projects throughout the school year. All time spent and money raised goes to benefit OUR CHILDREN!!

What do we do?

We organise fundraising events throughout the year, ranging from big events like the Christmas Fair to smaller events such as cake sales, class sponsored challenges, raffles, quizzes, and filming the annual nativity shows. We sometimes also host one-off larger scale events like when Happy’s Circus came to Backwell!

We also coordinate the sale of pre-loved school uniform. If you would like to donate some of your children’s uniform or would like to buy some pre-loved good quality uniform (£1 non branded clothes, 50p polo shirts, £2 branded), please contact

What is the money raised for?

Recently, we have been thrilled that money raised by the PTA has been used (in conjunction with grants from local businesses) to replace the play equipment in the year 1 and 2 playground with a brand-new activity trail! In addition to this, we have funded new ipads and interactive whiteboards for the classrooms, a visit from a local theatre company and character actors for WOW days, and new sand for the reception playground sandpit. We have also been able to provide a few online shows as treat for the children during homeschooling.
