Maths – Perimeter & Area
We are currently focusing on perimeter and area in maths. If you would like some extra practise, download the parent workbook below._____________________________________________________
Computing Day – Stop Animation
We all had a fabulous time today, learning about and creating our own stop animations. We realised how patient people who make films in this way are as we quickly realised it was harder than it looked.
We split into 8 groups and each took a scene from the myth, ‘Perseus and Medusa’.
Watch each video below, which show the different scenes of the myth. There are also some pictures of us creating our masterpieces below the videos.

Break The Rules Day
We enjoyed breaking some of our school rules today…including having brightly coloured hair like these members of 5T!_____________________________________________________
Persuasive Letters
We are currently reading ‘The Adventures of Odysseus’ in English. After reading chapter 2, we got into character as Polyphemus (a cyclops) and wrote persuasive letters to Poseidon, trying to persuade him to avenge Odysseus.

Ancient Greek Vases
We have been looking at Ancient Greek pottery and vases in our art lessons; ‘Black Figure Pottery’ was a common pottery style, where black figures were decorated orange clay. We have carefully drawn our own designs inside the outline of a Greek vase. They certainly look striking up on display in their ‘cabinet’ as you can see in the pictures below.

5T’s ‘Wild Things’ Update
We absolutely LOVED creating our final outcomes - creating a mythological creature in the style of Sendak’s ‘Wild Things’. Don’t they look fantastic? They look like they’ve walked right off on of the pages from Sendak’s book! Well done, 5T!_____________________________________________________
Maths – Addition and Subtraction
We have now completed our addition and subtraction block. If you would like some extra practise or just want to show off what you have learnt, download the parent workbook below._____________________________________________________
5T’s ‘Wild Things’
We have been looking at the illustrations of Maurice Sendak, in ‘Where The Wild Things Are’. We made studies of his illustrations and then created a bank of the features his illustrations have (e.g. their eyes, noses, face shapes etc.). This helped us to spot similarities between his ‘Wild Things’ and we discussed his style.
We then created our own ‘Wild Things’ in the style of Sendak. We experimented with different combinations of heads, bodies, feet etc. before picking our favourite one – which we will use to create our final outcome (using water colours and black fine liner). Make sure you come back soon to see how they turned out!
Pictures below: some experimental sketches of our own ‘Wild Things’

Welcome to ancient Greece
We kick-started our ancient Greece topic by finding out about traditional ancient Greek dress. We made these laurel wreaths to help us get into the spirit of what it was to be Greek thousands of years ago...
