Day 1: decimals less than 1 LI: to explore the relationship between decimals and fractions.

Extension: Play get nasty! With a partner, take it in turns to turn over a card – place this on your opponent’s grid (see attachment) to try to give them the smallest number – think carefully because the winner is the person with the largest number on their grid!

Day 3: decimals greater than 1 LI: to explore the relationship between decimals and fractions
Roll a dice four times to give you 4 digits. Arrange the digits to create ten numbers with 2 decimal places e.g. If I rolled 1,4, 5, and 6 I could create the numbers: 14.56, 16.45, 15.46 etc.
Extension: For each number you create write it as a fraction too. e.g. 14.56 = 14 56/100

Day 4: thousands as decimals LI: to understand the link between tenths, hundredths and thousandths and write a thousandth as a decimal e.g. 0.001

Explore the code found in ‘Day 4 Code’. Using this code, draw the shapes to represent decimal numbers for your partner to solve using the code.
