Maths Work for Week 7 (18th May – 22nd May)
Maths Aims For This Week:
This week is health and fitness themed so each day will have a different focus. For example diet, mental health, physical activity or sports. There are no challenge levels to select from this week but instead have lots of open investigations for you to pick and choose from. You are not expected to complete all the activities suggested for each day, not unless you want to of course!
Day 1: Healthy eating We all know the old adage, ‘You are what you eat’ - well it really is true! Having a balanced diet is key to both physical and mental well-being. Activities

Day 2: Outdoor challenges Did you know our bodies need Vitamin D which we absorb from sunlight to stay healthy? So spending more time outside doing anything is a good idea so why not get outside to some maths! Activities
Use the common birds’ spotters guide to help you identify different types of birds. You will need to try to spot these birds and record your sightings on a tally chart. You could carry out the survey for about 20mins each day or just as a one off! Once all the data has been collected, the data can then be represented in a number of different ways, for example: - A tally chart - A bar chart depicting the number of each type of bird spotted. Which is the most common? Which is the least common? - A pictogram depicting your favourite type of bird you have spotted.

Day 3: Olympics The Olympics are seen as the highlight of any athlete’s career. They were due to be held in Japan this year but have been rescheduled for 2021. If you were to take part, what sporting event would you choose? Activities
|
Day 4: Mindfulness maths Mental health is just as important as physical health. Right now, things can seem worrying or overwhelming so taking a bit of time out to relax and refocus can really help. Activities
|
Day 5 : Sporting fixtures We know lots of you enjoy playing sports, whether it's just for fun or as part of a team. In case you are missing out on your favourite sport or want to try something new, select an activity from our sporting fixtures list below. Activities
