What homework is given in year 6?
Weekly spellings or grammar work, reading, maths and times tables and learning log (fortnightly)
Do Year 6 have reading records?
Year 6 have planners to help prepare them for secondary school. Each week the planner is checked by the teacher as this is where the children record their reading each week.
When is Year 6 camp?
In the Autumn term, the year 6 staff hold a meeting for parents to find out all about the amazing year 6 camp to Morfa Bay. The presentation is then uploaded to the school website.
What are SATS?
SATs are tests that Year 6 take in May. There will be a meeting in the autumn term which explains what happens and how the children are prepared for these. As with camp, the presentation is uploaded to the school website.
What is different in year 6?
In Year 6 we hope the children are becoming more responsible and independent and are given monitor roles across the school such as office monitors, dinner monitors etc. These are shared across both classes over the year and children volunteer for the role they wish to fulfil. Children have the privilege of sitting on the benches during assembly. House captains are also selected from Year 6 and one of their roles is to count up the school housepoint totals each week.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
